For a change of pace, you can day-trip to Gatineau Park for hikes and viewpoints. They put on two electrifying shows per night that get bolder, sassier, and more entertaining as the night goes on.
Sunday nights are special at The Lookout, with booze flowing at more affordable prices, making it easier to keep the party going.
Another option is to join a social network where like-minded individuals hang out.
Pro Tip:
Swizzles usually has no cover charges, but there might be exceptions to this, particularly during special performances. Winter brings Winterlude, which isn’t an LGBTQ+ festival but pairs well with queer nights out if you don’t mind the cold.
If the restriction is in place, Oasis will post a notice at the base of the stairs outside the dungeon and will also have a host at the top of the stairs to remind guests of the rule.
We put this policy in place at the request of the women who attend Oasis. on Elgin covers live music and dance parties when you want something beyond gay bars.
You get warm days, patios, and the city feels busy but manageable, and Pride events add a clear focus for your trip. Through the year, local venues and community groups run drag, dance nights, and fundraisers that give you a steady stream of things to do.
Whenever I’m nursing a broken heart or on the verge of burning out at work, I like meeting up with friends for drinks and a fun time.
The calendar highlight is Capital Pride, usually in late summer, with a parade, community events, parties, and visiting performers.
For nightlife, start with The Lookout Bar for drag and a friendly mixed crowd, then hit Swizzles for karaoke and retro-themed nights. Check out the rules video on our FAQ page to know the rules in advance.
Solo Men are restricted during some of the events from visiting the third-floor playrooms unless invited by a woman. You get walkable neighbourhoods, solid museums, and good food without big-city hassle.
Centretown and the Golden Triangle put you close to nightlife, Parliament Hill, and the Rideau Canal. You can easily strike up a conversation, meet someone new, or just let loose.
Plus, there’s always something fun happening here. We appreciate your understanding of these restrictions, as our goal is to make Oasis a fun and exciting atmosphere where it is comfortable for all kinds of sexual encounters to take place.
If you’d like some tips on how to meet women at Oasis, we invite you to attend our First Taste For Solos event on the first Monday of each month.
From lively karaoke nights to fabulous drag performances, you’re guaranteed to walk into something exciting—no matter the night!

From retro to glow-in-the-dark nights, they know how to throw fun parties that keep their patrons coming back for more. Even on those days where third-floor restrictions are in place, Oasis offers spaces all guests, including solo men, can access and enjoy (the ballroom, dungeon, the pool, and outdoor patio, the lower bar and spa area, the smoking area, etc.).
It is not the behaviour of the men that the women are concerned about; Oasis works hard to ensure all guests are respectful, but it is that having the single men nearby changes the atmosphere, and some women enjoy that atmosphere while playing, while others do not.
You also have a bigger space to dance out there—that is if you can muster the courage to do so.
