LGBTQ+ Walmart brands to shop for Pride Month 2024
Pride Month, celebrated each year in June, is a time to celebrate inclusivity and support the LGBTQ+ community.
The company previously doubled down on its support for the LGBTQIA+ community, emphasizing that they are proud to be advocates.
Walmart’s Chief Merchandising Officer, Latriece Watkins, affirmed the company’s decision to stand for equal rights. Additionally, Walmart will stop considering race and gender in supplier contracts.
These changes come in the wake of mounting pressure from conservative activists.
Walmart’s Pride collection features rainbow-striped apparel and cheeky accessories.
The all-black card measures about 7 inches by 5 inches and features the wording “I love my 2 moms” on the front in a rainbow font. In a viral video, a woman criticized Walmart’s new collection, saying, “Walmart really making me not wanna be gay no more … we can just go ahead and skip Pride Month.” The video has circulated online, with netizens suggesting the clothes are too gimmicky.
Walmart has faced backlash for rolling back DEI initiatives.
It would seem so.
As proof, Chief Merchandising Officer Latriece Watkins said in 2023 that the company had no plans to change its LGBTQ+ merchandise. It's decorated with small rainbows and a message that "the future is inclusive."

On its Instagram page, Walmart used the social media platform a full week ahead of Pride month to let you know that at Walmart, it's "Not just a slogan. The center was created to address systemic inequities affecting Black and African American communities.
That means someone did wake up wanting to make pro-LGBTQ+ social statements after all.

During Memorial Day weekend, while most businesses were recognizing the ultimate sacrifice by those who gave their lives for freedom, Walmart took the occasion to promote and celebrate an early start to Pride month.
This past Saturday, Walmart presented two homosexuals, Jesus and Sergio, marketing the company's latest line of LGBTQ+ clothing.
Walmart’s webpage is carrying rotator ads, one of which promotes "Gay Pride." And if you search the word "pride" on Walmart.com, you'll get more than 1,000 items, including one t-shirt that tells you, "Some people are gay.
#PrideAlways is a reminder to lead with love." It appears that Walmart will be pushing "Pride" month with inventory online and in-store LGBTQ+ displays.
By the way, there wasn't a single peep from Walmart's Facebook or Instagram page about Memorial Day throughout the weekend, although they certainly hoped you'd spent a lot of money at their stores to celebrate it.
So, did Walmart CEO Doug McMillon lie to shareholders and the public last year when he said the company does not "wake up in the morning wanting to go and make social and political statements" in response to a shareholder question?
